On Tuesday I attended Oura Sananikone's lunchtime lecture and learned about his various projects and career as an artist. I found it especially interesting how many projects he has been working on continuously; several comics, work for a toy company, and commissioned designs. Another thing he said that stuck with me was that his art style was influenced by all kinds of comics; I found it interesting how he could take influence from a subject as broad as comics and use it to create his own recognizable style. I wonder how he got involved in the action figure industry (the exact industry he has always wanted to work in) and how he sustains a career as a professional artist, especially since from my understanding, it is difficult to find a way to make a living as an artist pursuing one's passions.
