Terry Hulsing is a self-taught artist who creates art with acrylic and resin. She uses the process of acrylic pouring to create patterns in her works, and resin to create 3D effects. A lot of her pieces involve the motif of the ocean, represented by the unpredictable fluidity of the poured acrylic paint.

I love the bright color scheme of this piece, with the sea blues and greens contrasting the vibrant orange hues on the animals. The texture in the background also conveys the underwater effect very well. I was first drawn to this piece because it looked like collage: even though it isn't, I can definitely take inspiration from Hulsing's use of patterns with acrylic.

I love the amount of motion in this piece, it is conveyed very well and the flow of the wind and waves makes sense. I wonder how Hulsing achieved such a cohesive piece from the process of acrylic pouring, especially because she describes the process as unpredictable. I also like the color scheme.

I love the wide variety of textures on this piece and the color scheme of brighter colors juxtaposed against dark and neutral shades. This reminds me of the forest in my piece threat and gives me inspiration for patterns I can try to make on the paper I use for collages.
