Branding designers come up with the images, words, and motifs that make a brand identifiable to the public. A branding designer's daily work can involve designing logos and visuals, creating media (such as websites and packaging) consistent with their brand, and researching consumers and the commercial environment to create an effective brand.
Skills needed to be a successful branding designer include creativity, ability to effectively communicate messages through visuals, ability to work on tight budgets and deadlines, both individual and collaborative work skills, and marketing skills. A bachelor's degree in graphic design and a design portfolio are required to get a job as a branding designer. Top colleges for graphic design include Carnegie Mellon University, University of Michigan, and University of Southern California.
