Artist statement:

junk is a self-portrait made of discarded mail, mostly home improvement and college ads. I used the medium of junk mail and advertisements to symbolize my insecurities: viewing myself as disposable and being pressured to fix what others say makes me broken.

Artist statement:

out of place depicts an Eastern coyote, an animal that commonly lives among humans, separated from the forest. This painting alludes to the relationship between urban animals and the environment, while also expressing my human experience of feeling out of place.
